CYGY.com officially launched on January 21, 2012 as a work-in-progress with a black and white palette. Beginning today, we want you to help finish designing CYGY.com with a unique opportunity of voting between four different color scheme options for our official logo. These selections will also reflect part of the accent colors in the design of the website.
“The results of this voting process will be a key stepping stone for the early founding process of CYGY.com,” said Marcus Cyganiak, Co-Founder of CYGY.com. “The winning option will become the new official logo color for the company, which will be the branding image throughout the website, social networks, and various other outlets.”
“Yes we founded CYGY.com, but we want our audience’s involvement to create social proof for our brand’s image,” said Kris Cyganiak, Co-Founder of CYGY.com. “This is not just a brand for us, it’s a brand for our viewers and our social sphere of influence, the ones who will help dictate our online direction.”
CYGY.com is proud to present the following public poll for our new website’s logo and color options. The results will be unveiled on Wednesday, February 1, with the new logo and colorized website going live, after the poll closes on Monday, January 30.
Voice your opinion by voting on 1 of the 4 color options below:

Thank you for voting, we value your opinion. Please feel free to post your thoughts in the comments section below.
I chose blue. I think it’s more put together. The green looks a little distracting to me.
The green is vibrant and the blue is calming. Tough choice. Going for option 3.
Neat idea here on letting us vote!
I hate to say this guys, but the logo already sort of looks dated… I don’t think the problem is with the colour… I’d go back to the initial design and start there. *sorry*
@Sweat Pea… How is it dated? I voted option 1, it looks slick. Which one did you vote?
I’m with Sweet Pea.
Not to sound negative but the design technique looks like the word CYGY was typed using the type tool in photoshop, then had a bevel/emboss effect applied as a layer effect. The default PS effects have been played to death over the years.
the green looks way too distracting and not as professional! definitely voting for option 1, best logo without a doubt.
I think the blue has a longer appeal – blue being the option 1 version.
For option 2, I think it’s good, but the orange dot might be a little too cute and too distracting.
Option 3 is very good. Like Derek said above, the blue is calming and the green is vibrant, they both open two very different emotions. For this to be the logo that’s chosen, CYGY.com really has to express the emotions that come from both of the colors. This logo gives off a mixed bag feel, which is why I think Google chose to go with their variety of colors.
If you go just blue or just green, you’re stuck with that mood and your website will be in a blue or green trance forever. If I had to go with one though, it would be blue. Like I said – longer appeal than the green. Green is not as professional, like Alberto said above, but only in perception. You can make any color you want seem professional – it’s how you choose to use it.
Option 4 is not an option for me. I don’t like it. It comes down to option 1 and 3. Two worthy options, yet very different options. Since the results of this poll bodes a huge weight on the future of this new website, I’ll reserve my vote for another day and come back after more thought.
I think this is a wonderful thing that CYGY.com is doing – giving the people the choice to brand the brand, so to speak. It’s genius!
Out of respect, I want to put some heavy thought into this – but like I said, it’s option 1 or 3. I’ll pay close attention to the comments on this poll.
James
No love for option 4? I think the green is different and different is good. James, you bring up good points, but I think the longer appeal is really green. Look at corporate America, it’s all blue, the flag is blue. Make CYGY.com all GREEN and more power to them for standing out in a crowd of BLUE. Look at the Presidential Election for instance, they never incorporate green. Look at the ties that candidates wear, it’s either blue or another boring color, RED! This is why I think green works because it will STAND OUT from the pack of all the same. Just my opinion. Green works for me.
Dan –
I think you have it all wrong. Green is simply too overpowering. Think of Facebook if it was green. The color would be too loud and would overpower the true focus of the site, and that’s the content – which is what CYGY.com will be all about.
I’m beginning to think that all blue would be the best bet for this website. It is just so much more natural as far as professionalism goes and it exudes a nice sense of comfort with sophistication. The green could be a little to edgy and distracting.
Still holding my vote in the air though.
James
I don’t have it wrong James. There’s a science to it. If you look at the streets, no car stands out unless it’s vibrant like a yellow or green. This is the same for brands, they need to find ways in which they can stand out in a world where new brands are starting up far too quickly. I’m not knocking on CYGY.com, I commend them for starting and I support them, but I think it’ll be tough for them to catch on if they don’t do themselves this favor and make the logo green. The online space is overfilled with brands and that makes it hard for everyone to absorb. People may catch on for a little while, but then life gets busy and they forget, but they’ll remember to always go to the brand they originally follow.
As I mentioned, I like #1
Plus, in terms of any printing, it’s more economical to reproduce in two colour as opposed to three.
Look at it this way. Facebook and Twitter are blue and both are thriving.
Mashable is blue and TechCrunch is green. Mashable is thriving and TC is crashing.
The G in Google starts with blue, why not any other color? Because blue is the color of power. As a fan of Manchester football here in the UK, I hate to say it, but the Italians got it right when they said “Forza Azzurri” and picked blue as their national color, which means “Strength in Blue” or “Blue Power”.
So just food for thought on being aware of what others are doing. I voted blue, option one.
I would not paint green as a failure like some of you are. if you look at the other sites founded by the same people who just founded Cygy.com, you’ll see blue and green there too. go to ThePinnacleList.com and you’ll see blue beautifully used and go to BuyRIC.com and you’ll see green perfectly used. take the best of both worlds and incorporate it into one?
Looking at the blue and green here though, they are a bit different. Where someone said outdated, it may ring true to a certain degree, but what’s current anymore when a lot of brands are doing retro throw backs? Thiss logo does everything right in my opinion. Its edgy, sharp & fun. You can be serious with it or be playful with it
Like one person said, two colours will save you money if your going to print, but don’t you have to put money in to make money?
I say option 3. The blue and green just gives you so many more options to play with and could really make this site vibrant. Then again I even like the black logo you have now.
Black and blue
Lots of differing opinions here.
Here are my observations:
- the logo is sleek
- colors well used
- black/color pattern works great
- blue alone pops real well
- green alone falls flat
- blue and green together work well together; they bounce off each other
Final decision:
- blue, but still use the green on the website elsewhere
Blue power
Hi,
I prefer the blue and green. Stands out. I will say though that these logos are just a bunch of letters and in no way incompass what your line of business is so it is hard to determine and vote for me on your logo colours and logo as I don’t know who your target market is or what it is based on these. I do think this will be real estate based as I see your posts – if so nothing suggest this.
Thanks and good luck! : )
Darcy
I’m blue.
So it comes down to blue or green. How about leaving the site the way it is?
BLACK.
Superb results here! Never thought two colors could spark deep thoughts. I went with option 3. For me it sparks energy.
Option 3 won, yay!
