The Lone Ranger – First Photo of Johnny Depp as Tonto beside Armie Hammer

This photo is the first official promo picture from Disney’s upcoming remake of The Lone Ranger, which is scheduled to hit theatres on May 31, 2013.

The newly released image shows Johnny Depp in full makeup as a modern version of Tonto, the spirit warrior and Arnie Hammer (from the Social Network) as John Reid, The Lone Ranger complete with the trademark black mask.

Jerry Buckheimer Films and Walt Disney Pictures, the team responsible for the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean series are bringing the new Lone Ranger franchise to the big screen in 2013. Gore Verbinski, who also directed the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies for Disney, will direct the film.

Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer released the above image last Thursday morning on his personal Twitter, giving the world a first look at the new Lone Ranger.
